About Our Group
Aikido is a self-defence system that emphasises circular movements to redirect an attack. The techniques include locks, holds and throws. In a typical class you will be taught how to breakfall safely, how to defend yourself from a number of situations and be encouraged to develop yourself both physically and mentally in a fun and safe way.
Aikido's positive philosophy, precise body movements and practical application make it ideal for those who are looking for something that yields greater personal satisfaction than can ever be achieved in a gym or sports centre.
It is non-competitive, with no fighting, and it will equip and prepare you to face the challenges that confront all of us in modern life. Aikido is great fun to learn and is taught in a friendly training environment.
We run children's martial art classes as well as classes for adults. Our classes will give your child the tools to develop into a well-rounded individual able to cope with anything life throws at them.
We teach children's martial art classes at SOCC to three different age groups: 4-7, 8-11 and 11-plus.
