About Our Group

Founded in 1998, ODT play vibrant and pulsating rhythms inspired by exotic West Africa sounds and South African improvisational drumming. Oxford Drum Troupe play various African instruments, most commmonly the drum called the "djembe". ODT teach and perform regularly at local events such as local charity events, the Cowley Road Carnival, university balls, Wallingford Bunkfest and Wittfest. We also play for weddings and parties.

Currently we are primarily a performing group and we would be happy to welcome new members who are interested in performing with us. We invite interested drummers to join us to learn our rhythms every 2nd and 4th Thursday in the month but please call us first.

If you would like further information regarding our drum workshops or Oxford Drum Troupe performances please contact us via e-mail at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

We are always looking for the chance to share our music with others, so if you're looking for something a bit different for a local event, that's guaranteed to get the party going, please give us a call.
